PHYSICAL OPERATIONS

THE SYSTEM

Interconnector systemThe Interconnector comprises a 235 kilometre sub-sea pipeline and terminals at IBT in the UK and IZT in Belgium.

The Operations group has overall responsibility for managing the operation and maintenance of the IBT and IZT terminals and pipeline.

IBT TERMINAL

Bacton TerminalThe IBT terminal uses gas turbine driven compressors to flow gas from UK to the continent (forward flow) and heaters to warm gas received from IZT (reverse flow).

IZT TERMINAL

The beach at Zeebrugge The IZT terminal was originally designed to receive forward flow gas for delivery to the Fluxys Transmission System in Belgium. Electrically driven compressors have been installed to provide full reverse flow capability.

SUB SEA PIPELINE

Southern North Sea The 235 km, 40" diameter carbon steel pipeline links the IBT and IZT terminals.
