FIRM, INTERRUPTIBLE AND UIOLI CAPACITY

Shippers are required to nominate their requirements for the transportation of gas into and/or out of the system according to a common set of ‘nomination procedures’. Such nominations are then categorised according to the procedures.

Shippers are entitled to nominate up to the limit of their capacity rights and, in normal operating circumstances, all nominations are satisfied. If the availability of capacity is restricted (for instance when certain items of critical equipment are out of service) Shippers will be allocated capacity in proportion to the amount of capacity they have contracted.

In the event that insufficient gas is delivered or redelivered to satisfy all nominations, nomination categories will be satisfied in priority order, as set out in the ‘nomination procedures’.

FIRM CAPACITY

IUK provides its customers with the right to use ‘firm capacity’ within the transportation (and storage) system. Other than in exceptional circumstances (such as during periods of planned maintenance) this firm capacity is expected to be available at all times and enables Shippers to transport gas, subject to conditions, into and/or out of the system at one or more of the points where the Interconnector system joins adjacent transportation systems.

INTERRUPTIBLE CAPACITY

In certain circumstances it is possible for additional capacity (in excess of 'firm capacity') to be made available. Whilst IUK is obliged, subject to physical and operational conditions, to make such capacity available whenever possible, availability may be interrupted at times and this capacity is therefore described as ‘interruptible capacity’. Any such capacity is allocated to Shippers in proportion to their firm capacity rights.

USE IT OR LOSE IT (UIOLI)

In certain circumstances, where not all Shippers are fully using their capacity rights, UIOLI capacity is made available for use by other Shippers, who are fully using their capacity rights.
