ISIS® is used by Interconnector and its Shippers to exchange information
and instructions and to manage the gas transportation operation. The
key application areas are described below.

ISIS® uses hourly matching information to track the title
transfer of delivered and redelivered gas. Confidentiality is assured
by the use of codes to represent the parties involved in transactions.
Shippers can enter their own trades or rely on a third party agent to
act on their behalf.

ISIS® provides Shippers with all the available information needed to manage and control their nominations into and out of the pipeline system and their inventory positions within the pipe.
Information of an operational nature, such as details
of service interruptions, planned maintenance etc. are an important part of the ISIS® communications
suite.

In addition ISIS® allows Shippers to advertise and trade capacity
and inventory on an hourly basis. These advertisements can be restricted
to other ISIS® users or can be published on a bulletin board and
made available publicly through the Interconnector.com Capacity
Summary

ISIS® tracks details of Shippers' entry and exit capacity at each
connection point. If operating conditions allow, a quantity of interruptible
capacity may be made available and each Shipper's entitlement to interruptible capacity is determined and tracked within ISIS®.

Various configurable parameters allow the inventory within the pipeline
to be modelled and managed according to prevailing operating conditions.
ISIS® notifies Shippers if their inventory levels breach or are
forecast to breach flexible warning and constraint limits and will eventually
take automatic corrective action if required. Both Shippers and IUK
Control Room Operators can see details of past, current and predicted
inventory positions.

ISIS® records daily and hourly nominations. These are automatically
created from details of trades entered by Shippers. An extensive set
of validations are performed on nominations and they are automatically
adjusted if required to meet the contractual and operational requirements
of the Interconnector. These "scheduled quantities" are then used as the
basis for setting the flow rates at the various connection points and
for allocation of physical gas flow.

Automatic metering interfaces gather gas flow information from all connection
points and these values are allocated to Shippers' scheduled quantities
on a regular basis. Hourly allocation statements (including details
of fuel gas) are available to Shippers and to Interconnector. Operational
balancing agreements with adjacent TSOs (where available) are used to smooth out slight differences between
scheduled quantities and physical flow.

ISIS® functionality includes processing and reporting facilities
to assist IUK to manage flow direction changes as efficiently and quickly
as possible and without disruption to Shippers' commercial requirements.

ISIS® has wide ranging reporting facilities covering such areas
as nominations, inventory, allocation, capacity utilisation etc. All
of these reports are available in HTML format on-line and many can be
downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file to enable data exchange
with third party systems. Web queries provide ad-hoc reporting
and analysis capabilities to ISIS.

ISIS® tracks all aspects of Shippers' use of the pipeline to enable
the preparation of invoices for the provision of transportation services.
ISIS® interfaces to external accounting systems using a combination
of Web queries and spreadsheets.

ISIS® automatically adjusts Shippers' nominations to accommodate
reductions in available capacity whether these reductions are due to
planned maintenance or some unforeseen event either in the Interconnector
or in adjacent transportation systems. Shippers are kept fully informed
by ISIS® reports of their expected end of day quantities so that
they can manage their position and, if necessary, source gas from elsewhere to meet their
customers' requirements.

ISIS® automatically generates gas flow notices based on Shippers'
nominations and any constraints affecting the operation of the pipeline.
These notices are automatically transmitted to adjacent transportation
system operators using Edig@s or National Grid Gas formats. IUK Operations
may manually generate, edit and send notices, if necessary.

A suite of reports showing aggregate nominations and scheduled quantities
provide IUK operations staff with a bird's-eye view of all aspects of
the operation of the Interconnector. Operators can also look ahead using
the various forecast reports within ISIS® to obtain a view of future
gas days.

Developed
by Interconnector and HPES, ISIS® is designed for:
- 99.9% availability
- Continuous updates
- Automatic operation
- Quick recovery
- High security
- Audit trail
ISIS® is an Oracle Application Server based system
written predominantly using PL/SQL and PL/SQL Server Pages. Users interact
with ISIS using standard browsers.
