The company has long-term agreements until 2018 to transport
gas through the pipeline in return for tariffs based on the final construction
cost of the UK-Continent gas interconnector plus operating costs. The
£460 million cost of the original project was financed by shareholder
equity, shareholder loans and a lease facility. A loan of £352
million was also provided by the European Investment Bank.
Similar arrangements apply in respect of additional capacity, which
has been installed in the period 2003-2007, and associated project costs.
