PRESS RELEASES 2011

2012 ANNUAL MAINTENANCE

13 October 2011: IUK announced today that the UK-Belgium gas interconnector will be shut down for annual maintenance commencing 06:00 (local time) Wednesday 13 June 2012 for a period of 15 days with normal operations scheduled to resume at 06:00 (local time) Thursday 28 June (press release).

WELCOME TO THE NEW GAS YEAR

3 October 2011: Saturday saw the start of the 2011/12 Gas Year - accompanied by record high temperatures in the UK and continued high gas flows through the Interconnector out of the UK and into Continental Europe.

UK export flows leading up to the IUK planned maintenance shutdown were near maximum and since the return to normal operations on 22 September the market has continued to move high volumes out of the UK.

The current warm weather is forecast to give way to much cooler conditions in the UK and the near continent later this week. No doubt the market will respond appropriately but it is also likely to fuel further speculation about what sort of a winter we’re in for (much ‘chatter’ about ‘La Nina effect’ already) and what flows we will see through the Interconnector in the months ahead.

INTERCONNECTOR RESUMES NORMAL OPERATIONS FOLLOWING ANNUAL MAINTENANCE

22 September 2011: IUK confirmed that the Interconnector Pipeline resumed normal operations from 06:00 hours local time today, following a 15-day planned maintenance outage.

INTERCONNECTOR SHUTDOWN FOR ANNUAL MAINTENANCE

7 September 2011: IUK today confirmed that the Interconnector Pipeline has been shutdown for a 15-day planned maintenance outage, with normal operations scheduled to resume on Thursday 22 September.

INTERCONNECTOR SETS EXPORT FLOW RECORD

11 April 2011: A new flow record exporting gas from the UK to Belgium (Forward Flow) was achieved on Friday 8 April 2011 (press release).

ENHANCEMENT TO INTERCONNECTOR FORWARD FLOW CAPACITY

25 March 2011: Interconnector have confirmed that it would be possible to install additional forward flow capacity (UK export) through the Interconnector System by upgrading existing terminal facilities. Front end engineering study work for such a development can be initiated by an appropriate expression of interest from either an IUK Shipper or a non-IUK Shipper.

At present the UK export capacity of the system is 20 bcm/y (compared to 25.5 bcm/y UK import capacity) and an enhancement project would initially examine the engineering requirements to deliver additional quantities of UK export capacity. The scope of any such enhancement project would then be defined by an assessment of all relevant technical and commercial factors.

Interested parties should contact Interconnector to discuss their requirements.

INFORMATION PROVISION UPGRADE
