Vacancy: Operations Support Engineer

Interconnector (UK) Limited operates a bi-directional natural gas pipeline and terminals linking the UK and continental European gas markets. The Interconnector offers a unique commercial service and can import and export large volumes of gas providing flexibility to customers. We are now looking to recruit an Operations Support Engineer based at our Gas Compression Terminal and associated Pressure Let Down facilities at Bacton Gas Terminal, North Norfolk.

Safe Systems of Work Controller (Day Shift, Monday to Friday) IUK Bacton Terminal

Working within the Operations Team you will manage day to day activities relating to Safe Systems of Work and its associated processes. This is a key position within the team and the successful candidate will help to drive a strong Safety culture and to promote the Company's Health, Safety and Environmental goals.

Responsibilities will include administration of the Permit to Work System and related tasks to facilitate safe work activity on site, including maintenance and project works. You will contribute to preparation of plant and equipment for maintenance activities as defined in our procedures which you will be capable of reviewing. You also have responsibility for conducting the role of Performing and Isolating Authority within the Permit To Work System.

The role will include participation in wide ranging reviews including Risk Assessments, Human Factors analysis, Control Room Alarm management and more general Safety related procedures.

This position requires flexibility to provide cover and support to the Shift Operations in the event of unplanned Operator absence. This is unlikely to occur frequently but will contribute to IUK’s operational resilience.

You will preferably be HNC qualified with experience of Safe Systems of Work, preparation of plant for maintenance and have several years’ experience in the Oil, Gas or similar industry with transferable skills.

A Safety qualification or professional membership would be an advantage and a knowledge of Safety Management Systems is required. Knowledge or experience of Human Factors analysis would also be an advantage.
