Vacancy: Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

Maintenance Team (Day Shift, Monday to Friday), IUK Bacton Terminal

Interconnector (UK) Limited operates a bi-directional natural gas pipeline and terminals linking the UK and continental European gas markets. The Interconnector offers a unique commercial service and can import and export large volumes of gas providing flexibility to customers. We are now looking to recruit an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician based at our Gas Compression Terminal and associated Pressure Let Down facilities at Bacton Gas Terminal, North Norfolk.

Working within the Maintenance Team you will carry out day to day activities relating to routine and corrective maintenance of Electrical and Instrumentation equipment and systems. This is a key position within the team and the successful candidate will help to drive a strong safety culture and to promote Interconnectors’ Health, Safety and Environmental goals.

Responsibilities will include;

Reporting to the Lead E&I Technician, you will carry out routine and corrective maintenance of plant, equipment and systems. This will include process safety systems and potentially Gas Quality measurement and monitoring equipment. The position also requires the post holder to carry out their duties within the company’s Permit to Work system and safety management systems, processes and procedures. Recording and documenting of all maintenance related activities will be carried out using the company CMMS and other reporting systems as required. The successful candidate will also prepare plant and equipment for maintenance activities as defined within the maintenance procedures which you will be capable of reviewing.

This position is based on dayshifts, Monday to Friday with some ad-hoc overtime working. Flexibility is required to help maintain a 24/7/365 operation.

You will preferably have completed a recognized apprenticeship and have experience of working within a Safe System of Work. You will have several years’ experience in the Oil, Gas or similar industry with transferable skills. CompEx qualifications or similar would be preferable and a Safety qualification or professional membership would also be an advantage. Based at the Bacton Gas Terminal, North Norfolk, the successful applicant must be within a reasonable commuting distance from site. Travel to other operating sites, vendors and head offices may be required.

Shortlisted applicants may be subject to assessments and testing in order to demonstrate the required skills and attributes for the role. All employees are recruited not just on their technical competency but also on their behavioural competencies. A team and performance orientated candidate that is organised yet flexible with the ability to effectively make decisions will be suited to this role. You must have a proven track record of working well within a multi-disciplined team.
